Cochabamba is in central Bolivia and is home to many supporters of the former president.
Shortly after the facility was seized by the group, the military announced the evacuation of personnel and their families, local media reported.
One of the soldiers held at the facility said in a message to his command center that the group was demanding the authorities stop interfering with the blockade, Bolivian news agency ANF reported..
Morales’ supporters staged a nationwide blockade for 19 days, demanding an end to the investigation into the former president over rape and human trafficking allegations, which he denies.
Morales on Sunday shared the video fired at his car, which he called an “assassination” on him.
The Bolivian government has denied Morales’ claims that he ordered a targeted attack on him.
Earlier this year, his supporters clashed several times with supporters of his rival, the current president, Luis Arce. Both intend to run as candidates for the ruling Mas party in the country’s 2025 presidential election.
Morales, who was president from 2006 to 2019, was declared the winner of the 2019 election, but resigned after a few weeks following nationwide protests sparked by allegations of election fraud.
