Alaska -stag stated that on Thursday (1:00 GMT), an “overdue” plane was reported.
The Nome Volunteer Fire Service said the pilot told the air traffic controllers that “he intended to enter the holding scheme, waiting for the runway to be cleared.”
Later, the US Coast Guard said the aircraft survived the rapid height and speed before contact was lost.
The footage showed low visibility in the area about the crash.
Senator Alaska Lisa Murkovsky shared her condolences after the incident.
“Alaska is a big small town. When the tragedy comes, we never remove from Alaskans directly,” she wrote on the Internet.
Alaska Governor Mike Danlivi said he was “broken” from the disappearance of the flight.
“Our prayers with passengers, pilots and their loved ones at this difficult time,” he said.
UNCLAT and NOM are approximately 150 miles apart via Norton Sound, Bering entrance on the west coast of Alaska.
