3D printed lenses make this microscope much cheaper than traditional ones

The world’s first 3D-printed microscope can be made in hours and at a fraction of the cost of conventional ones.

“It’s not just about enabling, it’s about empowering,” he says Gail McConnell at the University of Strathclyde in the UK. He and his colleagues worked out how to 3D print lenses previously used in microscopes, which led to the breakthrough.
