Residents in Syracuse, New York, battled strong winds to plow paths through the snow, while wintry conditions were also seen in Lowville, further north.
North Platte, Nebraska, was also hit by snow and ice.
The National Weather Service has issued an advisory warning that driving conditions will worsen due to ice and snow on roads.
