Judge Mathis threatened to shoot a city employee because a garbage truck was blocking his path … at least according to a new lawsuit.
The documents, obtained by TMZ, name a man Ricardo Acosta claims she was working for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power in July 2023, working out of Mathis’ home, when she says the TV judge started swearing at her.
Acosta claims Mathis was driving his car out of his garage, then got out of the car and started throwing explosives … yelling at Acosta to “get the f***** truck out of the way.”
A city employee claims Mathis was standing behind the dump truck at the time, and he says he told Mathis to move behind the truck for safety reasons … because he was afraid the truck would roll back when he shifted into gear. because it was parked on a slope.
Acosta claims that Mathis told him he “didn’t give an af*** and run him over and see what would happen to him.” He says Mathis then told him that for him some has something and ran home and came back with a gun.
In the documents, Acosta claims that Mathis hit the gun and said: He says Mathis then got back into the car and drove off, but not before threatening to “blow the lid off” again.
Acosta is suing Mathis for assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress … and he’s going after Mathis for damages.
The lawsuit follows a story we broke in July 2023 … when law enforcement sources told us an LADWP employee filed a police complaint. Accusing Mattis of threatening workers as a result of a heated confrontation with a gun.
