A total of 215 of the 306 members of the House of Representatives voted for impeachment, which is much higher than a third of the threshold required for the adoption of the bill.
Now the bill will be considered a 24-member Senate, which will convene as a court impeachment.
When found guilty, Duterte is facing removal and disqualification from the public office, and will become the first vice president in the history of the Philippines, which will be imperative.
It is expected that she will remain in office until the Senate has made her decision.
