Tourists in the popular Portuguese city of Albuffira may soon be banned from wandering the streets of swimwear or face a hefty fine.

The city on the beach in the southern region of Algarve, beloved in British vacationers, revised its Code of behavior, clearly forbiding people to be partial or complete naked in public.

According to new plans, everyone who wears bikini or goes without a beach shirt can be fined up to 1500 euros (1250 pounds).

Alboufira joins a relatively long list of European cities with similar laws, including Barcelona, Dubrovnik and Nice.

The city can boast beautiful beaches and bright nighttime life, but its reputation damaged Albufira as a party point.

Last year, eight British men were filmed completely naked at a wide daylight on rua da Ora, the main party strip of Albufira. The video passed the viral, and the Portuguese police were able to identify tourists.

This caused an emergency meeting with the local council, forces and enterprises, and the mayor Jose Carlos Roll promised to crack “excessive” tourist behavior.

A Document Offer (Portuguese) It states that “urgent” changes are necessary for “preservation of Albufira as a multicultural, family and safe purpose”.

It also forbids sexual actions in public – another local trouble.

The rules apply to terraces that can be seen from public places, and business -operators that allow you to get bad behavior can also threaten significant fines.

Currently, it is offered for public consultations, but it may be on the spot in the summer.
