It’s almost Valentine’s Day and love is in the air. But for me, that’s forever true whenever there’s pizza around. For an easy but adorable low-carb treat to show that special someone or someone you really care about, serve up one of these delicious treats. Low-carb heart-shaped tortilla pizzas. Perfect if you’re following a keto diet or like to eat on the cleaner side, these mini pizzas are perfect for when you’re in the mood for pie, but don’t want all the calories or carbs.
We take crispy low-carb tortillas and top them with no-sugar-added tomato sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, and heart-shaped pepperoni slices and bake them until they melt and bubble for a quick and easy mini pizza that everyone will love.
Note: The carb count of these pizzas will depend on your tortilla and sauce, but should average around 8 carbs. I’m in love!
1. Get some low carb tortillas, cut them into a heart shape and then pre-bake them
The key to keeping this pizza crust low carb is to get some low carb tortillas. Almost all major grocery stores carry low-carb tortillas, which can have 3-6 carbs depending on the variety. You can usually find deli, Mexican food, or bread in the aisle sections depending on your store. They’re also a low-carb, keto-friendly pantry staple to keep as a bread alternative and perfect for low-carb tacos, quesadillas, or enchiladas.
If you’re worried about cutting a round tortilla into a heart shape, it’s not too difficult. Start from the bottom of the heart first and use a small knife to cut the tortilla into two slices creating a v shape. The tortilla should look like an ice cream cone at this point. Then complete the top of the heart by making a small inverted triangular cut and then rounding the top of the heart with the knife. Don’t worry, it will be charming if not perfect.
When you’re heartily satisfied, toast the tortillas in a 325 degree oven for 10 minutes. This will give your pizza a nice crispy base. They should not give and should be hard when you take them out of the oven. As you let them cool for a couple of minutes, they’ll continue to harden, giving you a thin, crispy low-carb crust for your pizza.
2. Make pizza or tomato sauce without sugar
TOmato or pizza sauce generally contains more carbohydrates than you might think. White sugar is often added to tomato sauces to add flavor and cut the acidity. Look for a sugar-free sauce instead. Serving sizes are usually about 1/2 cup, but you’ll only need a few tablespoons per tortilla pizza. So keep that in mind when you’re reading labels. I like to sprinkle some parmesan cheese and drizzle some olive oil over the sauce for extra flavor.
3. Show some love and make your own pepperoni hearts
The pepperoni slices on this low-carb pizza are adorable and easy to make. Use a small metal heart-shaped cookie cutter to drill perfect heart shapes. Use thin pre-cut pepperoni found in small bags at the supermarket instead of a stick which will be harder to work with. We used regular pepperoni, but turkey or vegan pepperoni vegan that would be great too.
4. Don’t forget the Cheese!
Our pizzas are made with whole milk mozzarella cheese. Make your own or to make it even faster, you can buy bags of pre-shredded mozzarella. Some store-bought varieties may contain other Italian cheeses like parmesan or asiago, which can add a sweet cheesy flavor.
5. Add your Pepperoni Hearts or Other Toppings
Add as many or as few toppings as you like along with your pepperoni hearts.
6. Get ready to bake!
We bake these pizzas in a 375 degree F oven for 5 to 7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. We ours baked in a pan but a baking sheet will work just fine. I have made these tortilla pizzas many times and absolutely love them, but I have found that if I don’t brown the edge of the tortilla. To prevent burning, simply wrap the edge of the tortilla in a small piece of 2-inch-wide aluminum foil. The pizza is absolutely perfect this way.

INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARING OMELETTES
-
Cut the two tortillas into a heart shape (optional). With a sharp knife first cut each of the bottom sides of the heart in a v shape. Then cut the top notch of the heart and finish by rounding the top two parts of the heart. Then bake the tortillas at 325°F until crisp. About 10-12 minutes.
-
Then bake tortillas at 325°F until firm. About 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and increase temperature to 375°F. Let the tortillas cool for 2 minutes. Pour a few spoonfuls of pizza sauce on top and spread it to the edge of the tortilla. If you like more crust, don’t spread the pizza sauce all the way to the edge.
-
Drizzle a little olive oil over the sauce and then sprinkle some parmesan cheese if you like. Continue with a handful of shredded mozzarella, spreading it evenly over the sauce. Add your own heart-shaped pepperoni or pizza topping of your choice.
-
Wrap the edge (skin) of the tortilla chips with a thin piece of foil about 2 inches wide to prevent the edge from burning. Place the pizzas on a baking sheet, large pan, or pizza stone. Bake for 5-7 minutes or until cheese is melted and slightly bubbly. Remove from oven and serve immediately. Enjoy!
