US immigration and customs execution took one of their streets after being caught on video by throwing a bewildered mother on the court floor in New York in front of two children on Thursday.

This was not the first time in the video Captured by immigration agents using violent power to hold a company of mass deportation of the Trump administration. But a video this incident – one of which I shot for propublica – It seemed like something else. In a rare step, the government publicly said the officer for such behavior.

“The officer’s behavior in this video is also unacceptable under men and women of ice”, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Internal Security Tree McLeplein, – Note. “Our ice labor law enforcement agencies adhere to the highest professional standards, and this officer is exempted from modern duties when we conduct a complete investigation.”

In the video shot to Eckert, the officer throws Maret-Gallarz to the ground into the court building.

I was only in the US as a reporter for eight weeks – so I barely came. I come from Germany and are in employees, non -profit investigations. I was disturbed by video with masking ice agents that sweep immigrants from the street, the scenes I never thought I saw in the US and came to witness what is happening for myself. I wanted to report how the administration’s repression was played out of the front line.

Since the arrival, I spent time reporting in the neighborhoods of immigrants, ambulances, churches, offices with an ice field and, most recently, in the Federal Court building in Nizhny Manhattan. I have been going there more than every morning for the last two weeks.

During this time, I saw the ice pulling several immigrants from their families, and they all sobbed and prayed with officers, so as not to separate them from their loved ones.

But what happened on Thursday was a shocking escalation.

When I left the elevator on the 14th floor, I heard a woman’s requests. She sounded awful. I walked around the corner to see what was happening. At the end of the corridor, I saw a woman, Monica Moret-Gallarz, who was standing in front of the agent. She cried because her husband was detained. She told the agent that she was afraid her husband would hurt. She wanted to go with him.

I started recording and seized an agent who scouted the woman. “Isse,” he said again and again, pressing it as if warning her retreat. If she didn’t do it, he grabbed her. The rest – including the screams of her children – were remembered on the Internet.

The federal agent screams and waves his finger at Maret-Gallarz, throwing her on the ground.

I watched Mareta-Gallarz at the hospital. She is an immigrant from Ecuador and has lived on the island of Horse since last year. Speaking in Spanish, she said the government regularly beat people in its country. “I didn’t think I would come here in the US, and the same thing would happen to me.”

This morning, I returned to the court building to talk to the agent who decided Maret-Gallarz. I heard other glaciers agents call it Victor, though I can’t be sure that this is his real name. As long as I got there, it wasn’t.

PROPBLICA Mission is an impact. I don’t think any of us is waiting for us to help do it our video. Now the question is that the government will do the next time something like this.

I asked DHS how many agents this year were disciplined for abuse. They did not answer this question.

If you have tips on a new ice -performance tactic, we want to hear from you. Reach out through the signal (Tilleccert.90) either propublica.org/tips.
