Several times a year when the kids grow or the seasons change (as they never do), I climb into the dark abyss of our attic to find the next size of clothing. capsule wardrobes. Two hours later, they’re all nicely organized, new (hands down) closets made, and I’m sneezing like crazy.
Those days remind me of one remaining allergy – dust. And it’s a doozy!
I don’t have any problems during childbirth He had enough practice). I can push through a 20-mile hike, but it takes me to a dust-sneezing pile of crap.
Baylor vegetable soup to the rescue
I’ve gotten better at using an air filter when cleaning clothes in the attic. I will take it too Some allergy medications And they help a lot. But when the dust or hay fever strikes, I pull out my recipe for Bieler’s Vegetable Sauce (and sneak in a few extra allergy-soothing ingredients).
What is Bieler’s Vegetable Broth?
I heard about this vegetable soup for the first time in the book Constructive traditions. Bieler’s Broth was invented by a physician named Henry Bieler as a detox soup to aid in healing and cleansing the body. Dr. Biller says this detox soup recipe helps restore the proper acid/alkaline balance in the body. It is also thought to help maintain the body’s sodium/potassium balance.
Benefits of Bieler’s Detox Vegetable Soup
I love the flavor of this vegetable-based sauce, though it’s definitely not as flavorful. My favorite garlic soup. The benefits of vegetable soup are in the nutrients, not the taste. It is a healthy broth that is used in many cleanses and protocols. Cancer patients often use it for an easy food source that is easy on the stomach. I use it to calm my allergies (see my tips for supplementing below).
I turn to this delicious soup when I’m sick. The high vitamin C and K content makes it good for supporting the immune system. It’s naturally gluten-free, dairy-free, and full of vegetables and fresh herbs.
This soup is prepared in a traditional way
- Zucchini – Natural source of potassium and sodium; Vitamin Cand vitamin B6
- Thread bean – Also a good source of sodium and potassium, as well as chromium, phosphorus and choline
- Celery – Excellent source of vitamin K, potassium, folate and pantothenic acid (B vitamins)
- Parcel – Many vitamins in one plant! Parsley is a source of vitamin K, vitamin C, antioxidants and essential volatile oils. It is called cleansing and nourishing the body.
And I often add…
A true “Bieler’s Broth” recipe contains only the above ingredients and is just as wonderful. When allergies hit, I add a few more ingredients to calm it down. These are all optional but add flavor and nutrients.
- Cleaned leaf – I love netting and one is mine. Natural allergy remedies. When possible, I add a few leaves of nettle collected from the wild in this soup. It grows in our yard, so it is easily available in the warmer months. I also harvest and freeze some for the winter. The raw netting can “snap” your hand when touched, so be careful picking it up!
- Dandelion leaf – Known as a liver cleansing herb, I love it. Add Dandelion The same goes for this soup. Dandelion green helps with allergies and is good for the skin. I also harvest these from our yard and serve some in ice cube trays for the winter.
- White garlic cloves – It adds good taste, but also It benefits the body in many ways.

- For a more nutritious and filling broth, use bone broth or vegetable broth instead of water. Feel free to add any desired spices, although for pain and allergies, I find a plain and basic soup very soothing.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container and reheat gently on the stove.

Soup additions and substitutes
I already mentioned that I add fresh dandelion, garlic and chives to the soup but you can add other ingredients as well. Throw in some yellow onion and bell pepper olive oil To add more flavor. Season with a little sea salt, black pepper or fresh lemon juice. Or try some fresh cilantro to help the body absorb heavy metals.
Try chicken broth or a few cups of vegetable broth instead of water for a dry soup. And if you like the taste of the soup but want something higher in protein for a meal, it’s easy to add shredded chicken breast to the soup.
If my allergies are acting up or the kids need something soothing when they’re sick, I find that the original recipe works great for us. The base sauce is sweet or adjust to your preferences!
