Guinness maker Diageo has restricted the distribution of the stout in UK pubs for Christmas after “exceptional demand” over the past three weeks.
Diageo is understood to be operating at 100% production capacity, but still imposes order limits that are well above normal suppliers.
The drink is growing in popularity among women and young people, and recent international rugby games have put a strain on supplies.
Diageo has been ramping up its marketing efforts and working with influencers over the past few years to try and raise the profile of Guinness.
