One of the most complicated categories of the year is the record of the year – better understood as “best single”.
In addition to the Rogue nomination for “Beatles” (see below), the short -list reflects the stellar year for pop -music, and Espresso Sabrina Carpenter and 360 Charli XCX vs Texas Tehas Hand -Heel and Billy Eiylish.
But the front northern Condrick Lamar is not like us. An angry reception of his rap-undamento, Drake, it’s just a throw as there is legally controversial. If it wins, it will only be the second single hip-hop to win the category after the 2019 “America” is America.
In the parallel prize “Song of the Year” – recognizing the achievement in writing songs – smart money – on Bruno Mars, and Lady Gaga’s die with a smile.
Both artists are perennial Grammy, and their virtuoso ballad will be a cat for voters.
Their competition includes “Shaboozey’s a bar song (Tipsy)”, which was the longest single number of America in 2024. However, the fact that it is based on the previous hit (Tipsy J-Kwon) is likely to count it.
The only success of Chappell Roan’s Breakout Fight Bake is another strong contender, characteristic of their high notes and a piercing lyrics that skewers have been interfering with homophobia. Billy’s Billy’s Caldo Billy Pen is a similar master class in Song Craft – making this category one of the most difficult predictions.
On the contrary, the desired best new prize of the artist is a largely bilateral split between Chapl Roan and Sabrina Carpenter, both of them established a dominant presence in 2024 after the pop-sides.
This is the bad news for the only British nominee, the six -time British Ray Prize. But at least she’s in a good company, along with the DOECHII rap star and the big heart of Tedge Speme.
