Photos circulating on social media show a white sedan by the side of the road, partially burnt and with a collapsed roof.
Video taken at the morgue also showed a number of charred items – including a laptop, clothes and a badge – bearing the WCK logo.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that all five killed were Palestinians and that three were WCK employees, including the director of WCK’s kitchens in Gaza.
In a statement, the IDF said it had “struck a vehicle (carrying) a terrorist involved in a fatal assassination on October 7.”
It said the man was involved in the attack on Kibbutz Nir-Oz, but added that “it is not possible to link the terrorist to a specific kidnapping attempt.”
“For some time, the terrorist was under the surveillance of the IDF intelligence and was shot down after receiving accurate information about his location in real time,” the report said.
It said the strike was on an “unmarked civilian vehicle” whose movements “were not coordinated to transport aid”.
He went on to demand an “explanation and urgent investigation” from the WCK and the international community “regarding the employment of workers involved in…terrorist activities against Israel.”
