Britain’s Abbey Pulling won both F1 Academy races in Abu Dhabi on Saturday as she continued her dominance after sealing the 2024 title.
Turning pole position into victory twice, despite losing the lead to Chloe Chambers on the first lap in both races, set a new record of nine wins in a season.
The 21-year-old clinched the F1 academy title for the second time in a week on Friday after an extra race in Abu Dhabi indirectly wrested the championship from Pooling, which he had originally won in Qatar.
His main rival Dorian Pine failed to capture all three pole positions to keep the championship alive, so Pooling was able to race without title pressure.
In the first race, Chambers got the jump on Pulling, but spun in Turn Eight and rejoined the track unsafely.
Pooling continued to dominate the remainder of the race as Hamda Al Qubaisi held off Dorian Pin in the battle for second.
In the second race, Chambers was again in the lead, this time running to eight turns and making it one of the best races of the year.
It was a four-way battle between Chambers, Pooling, Al Qubaisi and Pinn for the remaining 13 laps.Midway through the race, Pooling made a great move into Turn 13 and cruised to victory as Chambers took second ahead of Al Qubaisi.
The final F1 Academy race of 2024 will take place 7.10am Sunday – live on Sky Sports F1.
