Artificial intelligence may play a role in assembling the next big thing as much as a computer

The the world’s largest known quantum computer It has 1180 quantum bits, or qubits, made of very cold, electrically neutral atoms. One of the prerequisites for making truly useful quantum computers is to make them bigger, to build them with more qubits. But the composition of these qubits also matters, and when they are made of ultracold atoms, quantum computers make calculations exactly when each atom is in the right place…
