Tom Ilube is stepping down as chairman of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) amid a row over chief executive pay.
Ilube, who assumed the role in 2021, said in his statement. “I have decided to step down from the position of the president of the RFM, because the recent events are disrupting the game, but will remain to ensure a smooth transition. a new chair as soon as it is in place.
“I am delighted that an independent review of the LTIP scheme has been commissioned and look forward to its findings once it is completed.
“It has been an honor to chair the RFM and I look forward to once again enjoying the game I grew up with from the touchline and watching it grow.”
