The party that will control the US House of Representatives in the next two years is still up for grabs.
Republicans were seven seats short of the 218 seats needed to take control Thursday morning. Democrats need 15 more people.
The Senate, or upper house, and the White House have already shifted to Republicans so that President-elect Donald Trump can have full control when he takes the oath of office on January 20, 2025.
Control of the House of Representatives, the lower house, gives the party the power to initiate spending legislation and begin impeachment proceedings against officials.
