Dominique Pellico was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging his ex-wife Giselle, raping her and inviting dozens of men to also rape her over a period of nearly a decade, among other charges.
Pellicott pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
The 72-year-old was tried alongside 50 other men, most of whom denied the rape allegations. A court in the French city of Avignon found 47 men guilty of rape, two of attempted rape and two of sexual assault.
The defendants now have 10 days to appeal.
Most of the 50 come from towns and villages within a 50 km (30 mi) radius of Pelikotau Mazan’s own village.
Among them they are firefighters, truck drivers, soldiers, security guards, a journalist and a DJ.
