What happened to Sir Salman Rushdi?

Sir Salman, 77 years old, was supposed to give a lecture at the Chautau Institute in August 2022, where he was going to discuss how the US is a safe shelter for writers exiled.

It is at this lecture that the man stated by the prosecutor’s office is a Matar, ran on stage and attacks on Mr. Rushdi and interviews.

Sir Salman was a knife at least once in his neck and in his stomach, the authorities said. He also suffered liver damage.

The interviewer, who was with the author, Henry Reese, suffered a minor head injury and was taken to a local hospital. Sir Salman, meanwhile, was transported to the hospital in the era, Pennsylvania, where he underwent surgery and was put on the IVL.

The incident was witnessed by many lectures. The video posted on the Internet shows the moment when people rushed to the stage immediately after the attack, and police said the doctor in the audience provided first aid to Mr. Rushdi.

Police arrested Mr. Matar, who was 24 years old.

Why sir Salman threatened with death?

For many years, the author was the goal of a threat to his life after he published his novel “Satanic Poems” in 1988.

Surrealist, postmodern novel was inspired by the life of the Muslim prophet Muhammad. This caused indignation among some Muslims who considered its content blasphemy and was banned in some countries.

The threats made Sir Salman hide for nine years, and he often traveled with security details in fear for his life.

But in recent years, the 77-year-old author said he believed that threats against him had fallen. Two weeks before the attack, he told the German magazine that he feels that his life is “relatively normal”.

Who is the Matar?

D -Matar, a suspect in this case, from Fervya, New Jersey. He was born to the US to his parents who emigrated from Lebanon.

At the time of his arrest, police said she had no motive for allegedly an attack.

Later, the suspect interviewed from prison at the New York Post, where he praised Ayatollah Khomeini, the High leader of Iran, who issued Fat – or the decree – called for the execution of Salman after the release of Satanic poems.

He did not say whether he affected his actions.

D -Matar said in the publication that he had read only a few pages of the novel. He added that he was inspired to go to Chautuka, seeing the tweet, announcing that Sir Salman would visit.

“I don’t think he’s a very good man,” Mr. Matar said. “He is the one who attacked Islam.”

On charges last July, appointed in July in July in July in July in July in July, appointed in Lebanon, separately for participation in the county of Chautuk, Mr. Matar was charged with material support in Lebanon Izbollah militants are militants.

“Hezbollah” is appointed terrorist organization of the Western powers, Israel, the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and the Arab League.

D -Matar did not plead guilty to the Chautuk District. At one point, his legal team unsuccessfully tried to move the trial to another district, claiming that he risked an unfair lawsuit due to the lack of Arab-American community and advertising around a loud case.

He remains in custody in the Chautuk District Prison. If he is found guilty of attempting to kill and attack, he faces a maximum of 32 years behind bars.

What was the Fatov Ayatollah Khomeini against Sir Salman Rushdi?

In the Islamic world, many Muslims responded with furiously to the publication of the book, and the death threats were made against Salman.

He was forced to hide, and the British government put him under the police defense. Iran quickly broke off relations with the UK in protest.

A year after the release of Satanic poems, Ayatollah Khomeini called for the author. He offered a $ 3 million reward (2.4 million pounds) in Fatwa, which is a legal decree issued by Islamic religious leader.

Dozens of people were killed in a protest rally on the occasion of the novel, and others, including the Japanese translator of the book, were killed after the fat.

The adventure over Salman’s head remains active, and although the Iran’s government departed from Khomeini’s decrees, the Quasi-Environmental Religious Fund added another $ 500,000 to the 2012 award.

After the attack, Iran “strongly” denied any connection with the alleged criminal. Some Iranian media praised the attack and described Salman as an apostate – a man who gave up and denied his faith – their coverage.

How are things with Sir Salman Rushdi?

After the attack, Sir Salman spent six weeks at the hospital. He survived, but injuries led to damage to his liver, lost vision in one eye and a paralyzed arm caused by nerve damage.

Since then, he has released a memoir about an attack called a knife.

The author should testify in the trial. He used to say BBC Newshour that he was not sure if he wants to face his alleged attacker in court.

“I have one piece that really wants to go and stand on the court and look at it, and there is another piece of me that just can’t be disturbed,” he said.

In his memoir, the author provided for what he would say to his alleged attacker.

“I think I will tell you very little,” he wrote. “Our life touched each other for a moment, and then parted. My improved from that day, while your deteriorated. You made a bad game and lost.”
