The Weekend Winners team are back with a look at Newcastle on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Racing.
Presenter Kate Treacy is joined by BetVictor’s Sam Boswell and attheraces.com’s Declan Rix to pick their best bets for the race and take a closer look at the weekend’s Cheltenham action.
Kate Tracy…
“Why complicate this race, I’m going with the field class Annafhe is a talented horse when things go his way. He’s a keen goer, he walks through his runs and looking back at his most recent start he traveled so well in Group One company and just eased up in the final furlongs.
“He’s stuck on the ground and will have to be more than good to get this win.”
Declan Rix…
“I’m back Wiltshire again, he was my last game, but the race didn’t go well for him. There was no speed and he was just too eager. He ran over five furlongs in his previous run at Haydock and I just wonder, with the combination of being off the pace and going back to six furlongs, could that five furlong run light him up mentally? There will be a lot more pace on this day, Orn will go ahead and Night Raider is the favourite, so I think this will be good for him.
“This guy was unbeaten in three all-weather runs, including the race here at Newcastle, he has to bounce back but the Haggas team is still in great form.
“Jason Hart is an interesting jockey booking as Haggas has two in the race. The other is Pink Crystal, who will be ridden by jockey Adam Farragher, I just assumed he would have first choice. But for me, Jason. Hart is probably one of the most underrated jockeys in the country.”
Sam Boswell…
“The all-weather record was the first one that stood out to me Wiltshireit looks like the surface will match. He put in a good performance despite having a live early start to his last run at Newcastle, I’m more than happy to forgive that run on the final day.
“I just feel there’s more to this horse, I don’t mind the draw and I wanted to take something against Annaf.”
