Rebel forces in Damascus declared the capital “liberated” from longtime leader Bashar al-Assad early Sunday.
In a video taken by the Associated Press, crowds of people can be seen in the city and gunfire can be heard in the background.
It is reported that President Assad left Damascus on a plane to an unknown destination.
