The last deadly disaster involving a commercial plane in the United States was in February 2009. Officials and experts emphasized that this type of incident is incredibly rare because of the rigid security restrictions on all types of flights.
The frames obtained from the CBS News Air Defeat Management, the BBC news partner showed two aircraft, which appears to have participated in the accident, clearly visible on radar systems available by the controller.
It seems that the audio received by BBC News confirms that the helicopter is in contact with air traffic on the ground at the airport.
The helicopter asked if he had a passenger plane “in view” and “pass behind”. In the following audio, the controllers seem to understand that there has been a collision and can be heard by sending other planes to the air to neighboring airports.
Mr Baterwort Heis said such a collision on the air requires a number of things that go wrong.
He said that in order to fly in the civil space, the military helicopter would have to be equipped with a banner who warns the surrounding plane to his position.
This means that both planes had to see each other, he says, and would be instructions for air traffic management and aircraft security device working separately.
“On this occasion, you have two different systems and both had to contain these planes separately.”
Black Hawk helicopter was part of the company B, the 12th Aviation Battalion. He left Belvoir Fort, a military base in Virginia, and participated in training.
