A University of Arizona defensive assistant is going to wake up with a headache Sunday because he headbutted a helmeted player in excitement and split his forehead wide open.

Chuck Cecil The Wildcats’ senior defensive assistant was teasing one of his boys’ pregame … taking the corner Owen GossHelmet and hitting his head hard on the player’s head.

Goss was wearing a helmet…but Cecil wasn’t, and after headbutting the player three times, he was visibly bleeding.

Looks like he didn’t have time to wash up… ’cause it was later and during the game and Cecil was obviously still bleeding from under the hood.

Unfortunately, Cecil’s attempt to inspire the players appears to have failed … as Arizona State University is outscoring the A’s right now, 42-7 in the fourth quarter at press time.

The Wildcats were 4-7 today… so they’re not going to be in a bowl game, regardless if this is really just adding insult to injury.

Can’t blame a guy for trying… but I hope the medical staff gives him ice and a bandage.
