Trump agrees to pause tariffs on Canada and Mexico but not on China

Trudeau said Canada implements a $ 1.3 billion borderline plan (1 billion pounds), which included nearly 10,000 frontline workers and more resources to stop fentanyl’s flow, synthetic drugs 50 times stronger than heroin which Trump called the main problem.

The Prime Minister also stated that Canada will appoint “Fentonil -czar” and will open a joint strike force to combat crime, fentanyl and money laundering.

Most of the Border Security Plan has already been announced by Canada in December.

It includes enhanced coordination with US law enforcement, increased information exchange, border restrictions, as well as deployment of black hack drones and helicopters.

This news appeared a few hours after Trump stopped a separate tariff for Mexican goods in exchange for this country, sending 10,000 National Guard troops to the US border.

President Sheinbaum conveyed the news on X, writing that she had a “good conversation with great respect for our relationship and sovereignty” with his American counterpart.

Trump called his telephone conversation with Mexican leader as “very friendly”.

In 2019, the Mexico government agreed to send 15,000 soldiers to its northern border to avoid tariffs from Trump’s first administration.
