Peter Til and his friends believe that they no longer belong to our species.

Among the plutocratic reactions, Peter Til, who earned his condition as a PayPal co -founder, is a fashionista. In 2016, even billionaires who were hostile to liberalism, and shared the views of Tille about the need to radically reduce the government to expanding the capabilities of large businesses, were not ashamed to support Donald Trump, seeing the candidate’s populism as a threat to the established order. Til knew that the rates on Trump is a gambling game – but it was a bet he considered not just wise but necessary. For years as he understood in Long interview with Ross Dautat in The New York Times Published last Thursday, Til is concerned that Western civilization entered the long-term stagnation in the 1970s, which would continue if there is no radical upheaval. This stagnation has many dimensions: less economic growth, less than the world scientific discoveries and general cultural malaise.
Trump hoped, hoping at least to open a conversation on why progress hid. It was, he admits, “clumsy fantasy”. Although his political investment did not pay off for overcoming stagnation, as he hoped, Til continued to invest in politicians – some of which were erected on the national stage thanks to his great patron saint -president JD Vance).
The analysis of the stagnation in stagnation, which requires a radical right political turn, also had a deep impact on their peers in the silicone valley, which are now sharing their worldview. They can be more attentive than Tyl about how tight they are ready to agree with figures such as Trump and Vens, but they seem to have won his broader analysis.
According to Tyl, he conducted a discussion on his dissertation for stagnation with Eric Schmidt (Google CEO) in 2012, Venture capitalist Mark Andresen in 2013 and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2014. All three for the first time rejected the idea that stagnation is a problem, but, according to Thiel, “there is a stable degree, updated and adjusted.” He claims that this shift is “deeply linked” with the turn of the Silicon Valley from the support of major Democrats, such as Barack Obama, and to take the Trump’s agenda to varying degrees.
The idea of stagnation itself is not inappropriate – and in essence the reactionary one. A lot of left historians and economists (particularly late Eric Hobs in their The 1994 Master’s Study Age of extreme extremes and economic historian Robert Breren in his Important Book 2006 Economics of global turbulence) Analyzed the “prolonged downturn”, which began in the early 1970s, when large capitalist peoples entered the period of slow technological innovations and less economic growth. In order to overcome the work victories of the post -war era (which became more difficult to justify after the fall), the American elites give the opportunity to financial capital (which led to a number of bubbles) and accepted deindustrialization, and many branches moved to the world south (usually China).
Even if no one accepts every moment, made by Hobsbos, the Guard, or the like Marxist thinkers, their analysis, at least has a solid foundation in political economy and material reality. On the contrary, Thiel has a bizarre cultural analysis of stagnation, which does not even undergo a laughter test. The Western world, he claims, has entered the five decades of anemic growth from the 1960s’ counterculture. According to Tyl, “in my story about the history of the 1970s … Hippie won. We landed for a month in July 1969, Woodstok started three weeks later and, with the benefit of the back review, then the progress stopped and Hippi won.” Til adds that “everyone has become the same as Charles Manson.”
From the hippie, Tili says, the Western powers have accepted the ideology of peace and security that delayed technological growth.
Recently, the environmental movement has taken over, which blocks progress even more. Til refers to the activist to change the climate of Greta Tunberg as an Antichrist. In this description, it is not metaphorical because it makes it clear that it believes that the biblical accounting of the antichrist will be perceived as a literal reflection of the danger from which humanity stands. Til says that “in the 17th century, I can imagine Dr. Strandrzelo, a man of Edward TV, who occupies the world. In our world, it is much more likely that Greta Tunberg.”
This is all too much for such a conservative figure as Ross Dautat, which is not unreasonable: “Greta Tunberg is on a boat in the Mediterranean, protesting about Israel.”
It can be added that the hippies did not win in the 1960s; Richard Nixon did. Subsequently, Nixon, Reagan and Thatcher won and were dominant figures of our age. Their solution of the problem of stagnation actually coincides with the rear: deregulation and tax reducing the rich. This is also Donald Trump’s formula followed by his “A great beautiful account“Now make his way through the Senate.
Reagan and Thatcher were politically successful, removing even left -wing opponents in the center such as Bill Clinton and Tony Blair, in the festivities of the district government. But this political success did not actually solve the problem of stagnation, which remains as serious, according to Tyl as it was. Til and his cohort got everything they wanted politically, but it was still unable to solve the key problem of our time. The fact that it still stands for the unsuccessful economic program suggests that deeper stagnation is in its own mind.

Because the policy failed, Til and other Plutocrats also play with another decision: a department from society and human species. Thiel has long been a supporter of various technological decisions after a person who will allow him and his pluutocrats to free himself from the stagnant mass of mankind: Kryniki (overcome death), maritime carrier (create libertarian utopia of the marine board), colonize Mars and artificial intelligence.
In a prudent moment in an interview, Dautat asks the rear what he feels about the future of this species:
Doutat: It seems very clear to me that a number of people are deeply involved in artificial intelligence, as a mechanism of transhumanism – for the transcendence of our deadly flesh – and either the creation of the successor, or some merger of the mind and machine.
Do you think is all insignificant fantasy? Do you think it’s just a stir? Do you think people raise money, pretending we are going to build a car god? Is this excitement? Is this fallacy? Is that what you are worried about?
Thiel: Um, yes.
Doutat: I think you preferred to keep the human race, right?
Thiel: E –e – –
Doutat: You fluctuate.
Thiel: Well, I don’t know. I’d like – I would …
Doutat: It’s a long fluctuation!
Thiel: There are a lot of questions about this.
Doutat: Should the human race survive?
Thiel: Yes.
Doutat: Good.
Thiel: But I would also like us to radically solve these problems.
Thiel continues to talk about its hopes that technology will allow humanity to solve the problem of death and reach the durable promise of Christianity of eternal life and transcendence.
In an interview, Til also hints at Robert Heinlein’s science fiction Moon – a harsh hostess (1966). In this novel, the colonists of the moon, disgusting the corruption of the earth, launched the Libertarian Revolution under the slogan “There is no such thing as a free lunch” with the help of II.
Listening to Peter Tyl, it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that he and his billionaire comrades are suffering from human appearance. They want to avoid inferior creatures that surround them. Recently in Brand Zuckerberg has radically cut off your charityPreferring to provide their money for research rather than helping poor people. Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos have Basically rented the city of Venice To throw away a multimillion-dollar wedding in which his comrades-pluts, oligarchic orgy participated.
If billionaires are so determined to abandon humanity, it may be better to give them what they want, and sponsor the Mars’s mission so that humanity can get rid of them.
