Tesla is recalling nearly 700,000 vehicles due to a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system warning light.
It includes the 2024 Cybertruck, the 2017-2025 Model 3 and some 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles, according to a letter issued Thursday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The problem is that the vehicle’s tire pressure monitoring system warning light does not come on between driving cycles without warning the driver that the tire pressure is low. Driving with improperly inflated tires can increase the risk of an accident.
The Elon Musk-led automaker said it is issuing a free software update to fix the problem.
Owner notification letters are expected to be sent on February 15, 2025. For more information, Tesla customer service can be reached at 1-877-798-3752. Individuals may also call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
