Along with the assets freezes, Makegano collided with a bitter split of M23. One side supported him as a leader and the other supported his competitor, General Bosco Ntaganda.

Enough of the project. externalThe non -profit group, working for the Congo, said that in 2013, two factions were included in a “full war”, and three soldiers and eight civilians were killed.

The side -ended Makenga and Nytagand’s gene fled to Rwanda, where he surrendered to the US Embassy.

By the nickname “Terminator” for its ruthlessness, the Ntagand’s gene was Eventually convicted of the International Criminal Court (ICC) up to 30 years for war crimes.

However, a few months after Makegan’s celebration, another great threat appeared. The UN has launched 3,000 forces with a mandate in support of the Congolese military in restoration of a m23 to refuse.

The insurgent group was expelled from the country, and Makenga escaped Uganda, a country that was also accused of supporting M23 – the accusation he denies.

Uganda received a request for extradition for Makenga from Dr. Congo, but did not work on that.

Eight years have passed. Dozens of other armed groups wandered through a rich mineral in the east, applying chaos, but the Congolese authorities were free from the most famous militants.

That is until 2021.

Makengu and his rebels took up arms again, seizing the territory in the province of North Kiva.

A few stopped fire between M23 and the Congolese authorities could not, and last year the judge who sentenced Makenga to the shooting.

During the last M23 promotion, which is said to be the rebels supported by thousands of rwand troops, Makegan is practically not considered in public.

Instead, he leaves public speeches and statements to his press secretary, and Cornell Nanga, who heads the insurgent group, including M23.

But Makenga remains a key player who seems to have focused on the scenes.

He said his tireless fighting was for him three children, “so one day they would have a better future in this country.”

“I don’t have to be perceived as a man who doesn’t want peace. I have a heart, family and people I worry about,” he said.

But millions of ordinary people pay the price of this conflict, and when it is captured by the Congolese forces, Makegan is faced with the death penalty.

Yes, it is uncertain.

“I am ready to sacrifice everyone,” he said.
