It is no secret that the Democrats are increasingly threatening: the Republican Party fighting for the votes of the working class, not only on crime, immigration and race, but also for economic problems that once reliably belonged to the Democrats. This shift was clear in the results of the 2024 elections and key new republican politicians. The problem is not in the national competition, but even more significantly … we Don’t know What Democrats focus on critical economic issues! For decades, the Democratic Party has not determined the exact economic program for workers.
On the eve of the 2004 Democratic Convention in Boston, legendary Washington Post A columnist David Border is published article called ‘SEIU chief says that Democrats lack fresh ideas.“It took away the disappointment, which, together with Bruce Reinar and other work leaders, felt to the Democratic Party, which seemed more oriented to the interests of people with wealth, not on the people who worked.
In this convention, we have expressed concern that the motivating families of the blue collar to vote for the Democrats is becoming more difficult. John Kerry and party leaders refused to resort to the realities of the Wal-Mart-Mart system, in which employers intentionally kept salaries low and for hours, forcing workers to rely on Medicaid and food stamps to survive. In addition, the Democrats supported a policy that devastated workers, including NAFTA, admission to China to the WTO, as well as the deregulation of trucks and airlines.
Democrats have transformed their party from workers, non -classy families, as well as on a chardon who drinks Latt, who is deceived by Volvo, a donor elite, which deals with political discussions than communication with workers. Now, more than 20 years later, the Democrats pay the price for this neglect.
New Task: Republicans who compete for the voices of the work class
It is necessary to look no further than these current republican initiatives to evaluate the transition of some elements of the Republican Party.
Senator Josh Houley (R-MO) introduced the law legislation legislation on the speeches of the audience in captivity and arbitration of the first conclusion-two critical issues for the organization of trade unions.
Vice -President JD Vance has offered a $ 5,000 tax loan to facilitate financial loads on families.
Donald Trump suggested stopping tax on overtime, social security benefits and earnings below $ 150,000.
The Republican National Convention welcomed the President of Teamsrs, Shan O’Brien, despite criticism from the Democrats-used platform to deliver a clear, anti-corporate, trade union message.
However, despite these gestures, the new Trump administration seems to be determined to continue their attack on workers:
Recalling the minimum wage of $ 15 for federal contractors.

Weakening of standards that require only responsible contractors to get state projects.
Illegally dumping NLRB members to cripple the agency’s capabilities to defend the workers, while Elon Musk disputes its constitutionality.
Violation of contracts with each federal union.
Increasing prices by analyzing tariffs.
The appointment of the well-known Buster’s Union-Buster Musk to oversee the ill-advised shooters and the trade union launch of state unions.
President Biden was a real trade union, pro-American production president. But now voters see the Republican Party – not Democrats – assigning that they will stand for US jobs, accepting tariffs not only for the protection of existing jobs, but also for expansion of production.
So what exactly the Democrats are fighting?
Lower health costs in pocket or adding home aid, dental and vision to Medicare?
Ending Congressional Trade or Billionaires in the Election Costs?
Continuing on all Americans 30-40 % discounts on Medicare prescription for all recipes that veterans receive through VA prices?
Increasing the minimum wage or expanding the right to overtime?
Raising billionaire taxes and terminating taxes for each who works as a Americans below a certain income?
Free College of Society?
Stopping corporate prices or using tariffs to protect US production jobs?
The problem is that we don’t know! The Democratic Party was unable to determine the clear economic order of the Americans.
Past Lessons: Changes on Victory and Basic Problems
Twenty years ago, we recognized these issues and tried to refocus the democratic party of workers.
In 2005, disappointed with the labor movement, which often acts as a Democratic Party pawn, many of us left AFL-Cio to build changes to win, a new labor federation that seeks to become a guard for our members, not for politics.
But the Democrats continued to accept the workers for granted. So we raised the rates.
We founded the Political Action Committee, they work for us, with a simple mission: challenging the Democrats in primaries, which agitated as the champions of the workers, but abandoned their promises when once in office. But some of them work on the original supporters of the US cold legs about receiving the democratic leadership, and the project was closed.
President Obama’s election in 2008 disguised the further erosion of the Democrats to focus on the workers’ party. Democrats who read the victory, in many respects, did not listen to the incredible gifts of the young senator enough to increase the concern of 60 percent of Americans without a degree, and 30 percent of college graduates earn less than $ 40,000 a year who felt that this work no longer pays to support the family.
The voices of the democratic cultural and economic elite often silenced these real problems of workers.
And the Democrats continued to nominate too many professional politicians, lawyers and businessmen – to put candidates as:
- Dan Osborne is a former union worker who conducted an independent Senate campaign in Nebraska.
- Marty Walsh is a former construction worker and a work leader who became the mayor of Boston and the secretary of work.
- A dream spokesman for the Glussenkompa Pereza Automobile of Small Business, which contacted the working class voters.
- We need leaders with a clear economic order – leaders who are comfortable in the union hall, on the construction site or in the small game of the league.
Call to action
We hope that our brothers and sisters will fit and lead – starting with the revival of the organization. This means deploying billions of $ 18 billion in profits and $ 35 billion that are currently sitting in banks and investments to focus on large technology, medical care, grocery, trucks and production corporations that undermine trade union salaries.
The organization is not only in the workplace, but also produces political changes.
The union members voted more than their indigenous counterparts.
In the Union, a project led by work in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania has proven that economic education may significantly move voices among former union members and working class families.
Signing on the anti -Union, multi -billion dollar corporations force politicians to choose a side.
Unions must require more – from both sides
Time is long overdue – for trade unions to dispute both Democrats and Republicans.
Trade unions should lead with the plan:
1. Consider the politicians who are subjected to the “economic contract for working families” and require any candidate seeking support for the union.
2. Delay a minimum of $ 3 billion a year with more than $ 18 billion annual trade union contributions and $ 35 billion for major organizational efforts aimed at corporate giants that suppress wages, reduce benefits and consumers. This should include 20,000 organizers (about $ 2 billion).
3. Immediately open companies in the key constituencies of 2026 to teach members and their communities as part of the economic analysis.
4. The spark of both internal membership and national conversation on federal guaranteeing existing pensions and social security and stopping all trade union punches, including the abolition of the federal recognition of the union and the prohibition of privatization of the postal service. Then the leaders should ask the union members to vote for the national retirement day and the safety of workers, supporting coordinated actions in Union and non -professional jobs across the country.
The future of work and working families is not a question – a matter of choice.
Time of trade unions and democrats will decide.
Chaos and the cruelty of the Trump administration reach new lows each week.
Trump’s catastrophic “Liberation Day” was inflicted by the world economy and created another constitutional crisis at home. Civilian officers continue to abduct the university students from the streets. The so-called “opponents” fly abroad in a mega-tour against the ruling of the courts. And SignalGate promises to become the first of many incompetence scandals that expose violent violence at the heart of the American Empire.
At the time when elite universities, powerful law firms and influential media capitulate Trump intimidation, Nation more determined than if -no one earlier to contain a powerful account.
In the last month, we have published a report on how Trump raises his mass deportation program to other countries, exposed the administration’s appeal to the laws to comply with his repressive agenda, and strengthened the votes of brave activists aimed at universities.
We also continue to tell the stories of those who retreat against Trump and Musk, whether on the streets in the growth of protest movements, in the town halls across the country or in critical state elections – for example, a recent Wisconsin Supreme Court race – which gives a model of confrontation and prove that Musk cannot acquire our democracy.

More than Nation

In the first three months, Ire Trump was especially February in two fields of politics: immigration and higher education.

The university’s case against the administration is incredibly strong. The question is whether ordinary rules are still applied.
