Some of Gunn’s unconventional moves – such as the splash and the kangaroo hop – became popular after her performance at the Olympics.
Gunn’s lawyers have now reportedly trademarked the poster for the musical and told Broadbridge that she is “not allowed” to perform the kangaroo dance because Gunn “owns” it.
“That dance blew me away — I mean, it’s an Olympic-level dance,” Broadbridge said in her Instagram video. “How could I do that without formal breakdancing training?”
She ended her video by saying that she intends to change her character’s name to “Raygun with I” in hopes that it will “solve everyone’s problems.”
In a statement to The Guardian, Anna’s legal team said: “While we greatly respect the worthy work and effort put into developing the show, we must take the necessary steps to protect Rachel’s creative rights and the integrity of her work. .
“This action is not intended to diminish the contributions of others, but rather to ensure that her brand is properly represented and protected in all future endeavors.”
