We are pleased to inform journalists as a cohort of 2025 PROPUBLICA Editors’ Training Program.
The program was created in 2023 to expand the ranks of editors with experience in editorial offices across the country and helps to better reflect the nation as a whole. Nine journalists from all over the country will join the four propublica employees for this year.
This program is funded Family Family Jonathan LoganSupporting journalism, film and art organizations whose work is devoted to social justice and strengthening democracy.
Participants will host a five-day intensive editing camp in New York, and courses and panel discussions led by senior propublica editors. After the boot camp, the participants collect almost every two months for long development seminars and will be appointed senior propublica editor as a teacher for advice on their work and career.
“By providing journalists across the country to editing tools, we strive to make sure that there will be more editorial staff across the country,” said Hyindar Thompson, head of the propublica. “This is an effort we have long considered one of our highest priorities.”
Presenting a cohort of 2025 Editor -in -Chief Propublica:
Alejandra cancino It is a senior reporter in Chicago Watch, a non -profit audience in Chicago, which investigates Cook County System. Its rewarded investigations focus on the intersection of the government and business, combining data with personal stories to expose system failures. Most recently, she co -authored a five -art narrative series, which exposed how the judicial system contributes to the ownership of the landlords for tenants. The project was recognized by the awards of journalists and editors. In 2022, Concan spent a year, editing and teaching journalists developing at the City Bureau, a non -profit organization -oriented Chicago community. Previously, it covered the production, economic development and work as a business reporter at Chicago Tribune. She is the recipient of the Chicago’s Studs Terkel Prize in 2025, which honors the journalist’s work. CANCino speaks at the Council of Journalists and Editors of the Investigation and is a former president and a member of the Chicago Society in Chicago.
DAARL BERNnet II He is the senior editor in the Higher Education Chronicle. Prior to coming to the chronicle in 2022, he worked as an assistant head of the editor and reporter per week of education and the head of the Chalkbiet Tennese Bureau, an information organization based in Memphis. He worked as a reporter of education in the magazine “Atlanta”, “Minnesota”, the star tribune and the magazine “Courier Louisville”. He also worked as a general purpose reporter at Chicago Tribune. He received a bachelor’s degree from printed journalism from the University of Hampton and a Master of Politics and Journalism at the Colombian University.
Daphne Chan She is the editor of the investment in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and a former information organization reporter. In 2022, Chen was part of the reporting team, which was the finalist of the Pulitzer Prize for the Public Service for the project, which discovered how electrical fires were disproportionately threatened with bad black tenants. Earlier, she was a reporter for the United States today, where she found that state officials had repeatedly sent children to live with their parents accused of cruelty. Nick Garcia This is the editor of the Texas Tribune Region, which leads the team of journalists living across the state and tell about Texas’s policy and policy. Earlier, she held the position of senior editor in Slate, headed by a team of writers covering an array of legal issues before the Supreme Court in the jurisprudence section. In 2020, she became a leading reporter in the first part of a political poll, which received an honorary mention for the Journalist Prize and Editors Philip Meyer for the pioneer use of social science research methods. Before the Marshall project, Nicole reported about the American Washington Post table. It is in Brooklyn, New York.
Andrea Lopez-Vilafan is a managerial editor in Voice San Diego. She is also co-authored in the VOSD podcast, the most popular subcaster of local state affairs in San Diego, and writes a weekly newsletter, Chisme Cup. Earlier, she worked as a reporter at The San Diego-Uunion Tribune, where she covered the city’s neighborhood.
Jennifer Palmer is an investigative reporter at Oklahoma Watch. She has more than two decades of news reporting, and her work was recognized as awards in reports on public service and reporting investigation. She started her career, covering the police and the courts in Rio Grande Sun, a weekly weekly in northern New Mexico, where her reporting led to the disruption of the famous judge. Before coming to Oklahoma-hour, she had previously worked as a reporter in Amahi-Garold and Oklahoman. She is originally from Norman, Oklahoma, and a graduate of Oklahoma University.
The chastity of the Prat is a national education editor in the Washington Post. Prior to his post in 2024, she was the head of the Bureau of Education in The Wall Street Journal, Noman’s Foundation in Harvard and illuminated education at Detroit Free Press, Newsday and The Oregonian. For many years, she has helped to teach students and journalists at the Harvard College, the Association of Writers of Education and Journalists and Editors of Investigators.
Milton Valencia She is the editor of Boston Globus’s criminal justice in the subway, watching the coverage of crimes, police and public security. Earlier, he was the deputy editor of the inaugural cash “Globe”, “Power Team, Inequality”, which focused on deciding in racial wealth throughout the region. Milton started as a Globe reporter in 2007. In this role, he reported from the Globe City Hall, helping to cover the 2021 Boston historical race for the mayor. In 2020, he was part of the Globus police accountable group, which exposed corruption and improper management in the Boston Police Department. He also spent several years, covering the federal justice system, including the death penalty in the Boston Marathon Johar Tsarnaev. It was part of the staff who received the Pulitzer Prize for Loosing Blasts. Milton started his career in local newspapers in the Ailleda and Massachusetts. He has a Philosophy and State Policy Diploma from the University of Massachusetts, Boston and lives south of Boston with his wife and two children.

Peter was ambiguous She is the Visuals editor in PROPBLICA, where he mainly works with local affiliate editorial offices across the country through a local reporting network. Its visual editing and direction of art were awarded the National Association of Photographers, the Society of News Design, the Society of Designers of Publications and Internet Journalism Awards. Before coming to Propublica, he was an international visual editor of NPR. Before addressing editing, he worked for more than ten years as a freelance photojournalist, mostly in Africa south. It co -established the daily Africa, a team of photographers who use social media to expand Africa’s coverage outside the headlines, and everyday projects, the world community of photographers and visual literacy. He was the John S. Knight John S. Knight fellow at Stanford University, and he is the recipient of the Grants and the Media Brown Institute, the Brown Code, the Magnum Foundation, the Open Society Funds, the International Year and the Pulitzer Center.
Duaa Eldeib is the propublica reporter. She considered the failures that led to the frists of deadburns in the United States, the ways that insurance companies interfere with mental health treatment and deadly consequences of help delay during the pandemic. She was a reporter and producer of the documentary “Before Breath”. Her reporting provoked legislative hearings, pushed the government reform and led to the release of a mother, who was mistakenly convicted of murder, as well as to release young people who were imprisoned in minors, and then sent to adults for minor crimes. Before coming to PROPBLICA, she worked at Chicago Tribune, where she and two colleagues were finalists at the Pulitzer Prize for Reporting. She was also the finalist of the Pulitzer Prize in the field of explanatory reporting twice – for the first time in 2023 for her series about stillbered and again in 2025 as part of a team that covers access to mental health.
Chhanna fresh is the Deputy Editor of the Popublica Data Editor. She edited the data investigations that were guided by the data ban on Texas’s abortion, tribal lending of high interest and salmonella outbreak. She joined the organization in 2016, and her work as a reporter and editor deserved recognition of journalists and editors of journalists Philip Meyer, as well as in the Internet conduction of the Sigma Delta Chi journalism. Before working in journalism, Fresques assessed the educational policy for a non -profit research organization. Andrea wise This is the editor of the visual strategy in PROPBLICA, where it edits photo, illustration and other forms of visual journalism. It is also co -founded by Diversify Photo, a non -profit organization that enhances the voices of visual creators from insufficient groups in the worldwide visual media landscape. She commissioned and headed a perennial photo, which was awarded the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for the Public Service within the PROPBLICA report on the harmful consequences of public prohibitions on abortion, and was photos of the online project of the year. This work was also recognized by the National Magazine Prize for Public Interests, the George Polki Prize for the medical report, the Bingam Prize for investigating journalism and the Taylor family for justice in journalism, among others. Its photo editing and art management were also recognized by photos of the year, the National Association of Photographers, the Society of Publications Designers and the Society of News Design. She has a bachelor’s honors in studio art from Trinity College and a Master’s in Photography from School of Public Communications University University.
