Where does this data come from?
Most of the data we use comes from the National Center for Education Statistics. World Private School Studythe purpose of which since 1989 is a collection of information about US private schools every other year. Because regulation of private schools varies by state, there is no complete list of all private schools in the country. PSS attempts to compile such a list using a variety of sources, including state departments of education, private school associations and faith-based organizations, and in some areas, the Internet Yellow Pages and local governments.
