Pedro Martinez Losa has been sacked as Scotland Women’s manager after they failed to qualify for Euro 2025.
It comes after a 2-0 play-off defeat in Finland saw the team fail to qualify for next summer’s tournament in Switzerland.
The 48-year-old has been handed a new contract by the Scottish FA, taking him through to the 2027 World Cup, but the decision has been made to part ways with him now.
With the Nations League scheduled for February, a recruitment process is already underway to find his replacement.
Scotland’s women last reached a major tournament when Shelley Kerr’s side appeared at the World Cup in France in 2019. It was their second consecutive finals appearance.
Anna Signol led them to Euro 2017 in the Netherlands, the first time they qualified for a major tournament.
Martinez Llosa was appointed after Kerry’s side missed out on the next European Championship, with the Spaniard also missing out on a 2022 World Cup play-off against the Republic of Ireland.
Ian Maxwell, Chief Executive of the Scottish FA. “I would like to thank Pedro for his efforts over the last three-and-a-half years. While we must not lose sight of the recent unbeaten run and promotion to Group B of the Nations League, the priority was to qualify for a major tournament again.”
Martinez Losa said: “I am extremely proud of the journey we have taken as a group and it has been a privilege to lead the Scotland Women’s National Team. Watching the young talent flourish alongside our experienced players has been a highlight of my time here.
“I leave with fond memories and gratitude to my team, backroom staff and passionate supporters. Scotland will always have a special place in my heart and I wish the team every success in the future.”
