The NFL community is joining forces to support the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires … collectively donating $5 million to the relief fund.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell The donation was announced Friday … revealing the league and the Rams, Chargers, Vikings and Texans have stepped up to provide relief to the Los Angeles area, where historic fires have destroyed thousands of properties.
“We are heartbroken by the devastating loss suffered by so many in the Los Angeles area and inspired by the heroism of first responders and residents who supported their neighbors,” Goodell said.
At least 10 people died as a result of forest fires.
The Chargers and Rams, who both have playoff games this weekend, will honor first responders by wearing special LAFD hats and shirts for their matchups.
Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase merchandise for themselves… and all proceeds will go to the LAFD Foundation and the American Red Cross.
Game-used jerseys and soccer balls will also be auctioned NFL Auctionall proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross.
Additionally, half of the 50/50 raffle from the Rams game moved to State Farm Stadium in Arizona will be donated to the cause.
“On behalf of our family and the Los Angeles Rams, our thoughts are with everyone affected by the unspeakable fires and devastation,” the Kroenke family said.
“We know there are both immediate and long-term needs, and our family and the Rams are committed to doing our part to support recovery efforts now and in the months and years to come.”
