Sometimes I get the urge to make a pecan pie, but I’m not always ready to make a pie crust. This simple recipe maple tree Pecan Pie Bars (No corn syrup!) They are part bar, part cookie, part cake and can be baked very easily.
These guys are rich and nutty and decadent! Neither does that “too much filling and not enough pecan” syndrome that some pecan pies can suffer from.
But what is the best thing about this recipe? We use natural sweeteners instead of corn syrup, natural sweeteners like maple syrup and honey, a common ingredient in most pecan pie style recipes that you want to avoid.
So if you like pecan pies more than filling and would rather use natural sweeteners than maple and honey corn syrup, try these bars. I think you will love them as much as I do.
Just a warning! As you bake these bars, your house will smell like pecan heaven!

Maple Pecan Pie Bars (No Corn Syrup)
Maple Pecan Pie Bars that don’t contain corn syrup! Easier than traditional pecan pie, but just as delicious!
The ingredients
The earth’s crust
- 3/4 the cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 2 the glasses the flour
- 1/2 the cup confectioner’s sugar
- 1/2 little spoon the salt
Topping
- 1/2 the cup the butter
- 1 the cup brown sugar
- 1/3 the cup maple syrup
- 1/4 the cup honey
- 1/8 the cup half and half
- 1 spoon vanilla
- 1 spoon bourbon (optional, but you should :-))
- 2 1/2 the glasses pecans, chopped
INSTRUCTIONS
MAKING the crust
-
In a large bowl, mix the flour, confectioners’ sugar and salt.
-
Then cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until the crumbs are uniform. Chopping the butter can easily be done using a food processor. Place the cold butter and flour in a food processor and pulse a few times until the flour and butter are fully combined and your crumbs are roughly the same size.
-
Pat the crumbs evenly into the bottom of the pan and bake for 15 minutes or until very lightly browned around the edges. Remove from the oven. If you’re using a 9×9 pan and the crust has puffed up a bit, use a spatula to gently flatten the pecans for an even surface.
ADDITIONAL
-
While the crust is baking, combine all the ingredients except the pecans in a small saucepan and bring to a slow boil. Cook the mixture for 2 minutes and then turn off the heat. Add the pecans and toss to coat evenly. Be sure to keep an eye on the pot so it doesn’t boil over.
-
Pour the topping mixture and spread evenly over the crust. Place back in the oven and bake for another 25-30 minutes or until nice and bubbly.
-
Remove from oven and let cool. After cooling, cut into squares or bars and dust with confectioners’ sugar.
Notes
I noticed that these Maple Pecan Pie Bars tasted better a day or two after they were baked. They are great to go ahead and take to a party.
