LL Cool J: doesn’t wait until he passes by to smell the roses; he ordered himself a bunch of hip hop flowers, and the little card says: “HE’S THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME.”
It was an emphatic statement when LL recently sat down with Apple Music’s Le Code podcast, where he laid out his legacy… “I’ll humbly say this, but I really mean this… I think , that one day people are going to wake up and realize that LL Cool J is the most important rapper that ever lived, I really believe that one day people will say that.”
He colorfully continued to frame his work using an array of artistic metaphors, but LL spit his brightest gems, reminding fans of the changes he brought to hip hop culture.
“They’ll say, when it comes to love songs, they’ll say,
“When it comes to the terminology of the GOAT, they say: “This is the guy who invented all the AZ stuff” I could go on and on.

Russell Simmons
Before everyone goes all scorched earth on LL, just know that he was probably rocking bells before most of today’s streaming audience was even born.
His first album, 1985’s Radio, was Def Jam’s first LP, and 2000’s GOAT featuring James T. Smith. game

We spoke to him in August after his release (fourteenth!!!) album “The Force” and he strongly advocated the work ethic needed to be a successful rapper.
Is LL Cool J the greatest rapper ever?
So we have to ask … is LL 🐐 or not?
