A 26-year-old man has been found guilty of murdering the wife and two daughters of Sky and BBC racing commentator John Hunt in a crossbow attack.
Kyle Clifford, from Enfield, was accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend Louise Hunt, 25, and her sister Hannah Hunt, 28, with a crossbow and killing their mother Carol Hunt, 61, at their family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire. On July 9, 2024.
Clifford, who served in the army for nearly three years from 2019, was the subject of a manhunt for several hours before he was found wounded in Lavender Hill Cemetery in Enfield, north London, after being shot in the chest with a crossbow.
After the deaths, Mr Hunt said the devastation he and his surviving daughter Amy were feeling “can’t be put into words”.
Appearing by video at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday, Clifford pleaded guilty to three counts of murder, one count of false imprisonment against Louise Hunt and two counts of possessing offensive weapons, a crossbow and a knife.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of raping Louise Hunt and will stand trial on the same charge later this year.
Following the attacks, the Home Office said Home Secretary Yvette Cooper was urgently considering whether tougher arbitration laws were needed.
