Kim Kardashian Wants more recognition and money for the real heroes fighting the Los Angeles wildfires… calling on the government to pay inmates more to fight fires.

The reality star and mogul took to his Instagram Story late Saturday night to tag the governor Gavin Newsom and noting that hundreds of prisoners are helping the effort by working long hours in dangerous conditions for no money.

Kim says inmates are only paid $1 an hour to fight fires … and that’s not nearly enough for the people who help put out dangerous fires.

KK special shout out to Ventura Learning Center … an org. which trains formerly incarcerated individuals to become firefighters and helps them reduce their past crimes so they can land a six-figure job as a firefighter in the future.

According to The Marshall Project, a nonprofit news organization that covers criminal justice disparities; Prisoners in California are billed $26.90 for a 24-hour shift during an emergency…so $1 an hour isn’t far off.

The real benefit comes from reduced sentences for inmates who fight fires… according to the New York Times, one day spent on the fire brigade means two days off their sentences.

About 1,000 inmates are currently battling the Los Angeles fires, which have consumed more than 40,000 acres and killed at least 16 people.

The Kardashian family continues to speak out amid these fires, as while Kim pushes for criminal justice reform, her sister Khloe Kardashian called the LA mayor Karen Bass to respond to fires: step social media users called him a hypocrite.

Kim is staying out of that fight… but he’s clearly not afraid to ask his government for more.
