FBI director nominee Kash Patel was the target of a cyber attack originating from Iran on Tuesday, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

President-elect Donald Trump named his longtime ally Patel after announcing on Saturday that he plans to fire FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Patel has been a Trump supporter for years and served in various capacities during his first administration.

“Kash Patel was instrumental in the first Trump administration’s efforts against the terrorist regime in Iran and will implement President Trump’s policies to protect America from adversaries as FBI director,” said Alex Pfeiffer, Trump’s transition spokesman.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
