Former footballer and manager Joey Barton has been charged with two counts of alleged malicious communications.
Following an investigation by Cheshire Police, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized Burton to be charged.
“The charges relate to reports of alleged malicious online communications involving two victims between Wednesday, January 3 and Wednesday, March 20,” police said in a statement.
Barton will appear in the Magistrates Court at a later date.
