Police say they were able to catch the former NFL head coach on the street near the crash site – and in the police report, officers wrote that he smelled of alcohol.
In the dashcam footage, you can hear him admit to having “a little” to drink earlier in the evening … and after initially claiming he wasn’t driving, he got behind the wheel moments later.
Cops handcuffed him and threw him in the back of one of their rides, and after they informed him he was under arrest for OWI, Del Rio became increasingly uncomfortable.
Police video shows him asking to use the bathroom three separate times… at one point saying, “Please just let us vent.”
Minutes later, as a police officer waited for a search warrant for his blood sample after refusing to be breathalyzed, the former Raiders coach began screaming over and over in agony.
The crying got so loud that Del Rio’s arresting officer finally asked. “Sir, what’s going on?”
Del Rio replied. “It’s just this pain.”
When Del Rio and the officer eventually arrived at a nearby medical facility for a blood draw, Del Rio took several minutes to get out of the car … yelling that his “arm wouldn’t work.” After struggling for a few seconds, he was finally helped out of the car.
