For this episode Begin to understandwe look at how Trump “won”: 244 million Americans were eligible to vote in 2024; 31.5 percent voted for Trump, 30.6 percent for Harris, and 38 percent did not vote. Trump won the same share of the electorate as four years ago (32 percent), but Harris’ share of the electorate dropped by 3.5 points compared to Biden’s share. Why did so many potential voters stay at home? Harold Meyerson has our analysis as managing editor American Avenue.

Also in this episode: Now that Trump is getting ready to round up and deport undocumented residents, we want to thank them for everything they’ve done to make America good. It’s a sentiment they hardly hear — especially “unaccompanied minors” who “have shown more courage in their young lives than anyone in the Trump administration could have dreamed of.” Gustav Arellano will explain – he is an observer for Los Angeles Times whose father came to the US in the 1960s in the trunk of a Chevy.
