How To Indent In Microsoft Word and Google Docs – TeachThought

Step by step instructions for first line and hanging discounts, with tips for using the ruler – friendly and easy to follow.

Microsoft Word (Windows/Mac)

Faster

  1. Put the cursor at the beginning of the line.
  2. Press Tab Once to a discount of about 0.5 ″.
  3. Press Backspace At the beginning to remove the indentation.

Button

  1. Go to Beginning > IndentationS
  2. Use Reduce retreat to move it back.

Set first line or hanging indentation

  1. Select your paragraph (s).
  2. Open Paragraph Dialog (Home> Small Starter).
  3. Under Indentation> specialselect First line or Pending and set the amount (eg 0.5 ″).
  4. Click WellS

Precise control with the ruler: Go to Review> rulerS Drag the upper triangle (first line), the lower triangle (left indentation) or square (whole paragraph).

  1. Put the cursor at the beginning of the line.
  2. Press Tab To retreat the first row.
  3. Press Backspace to remove.

Set first line or hanging indentation

  1. Select your text.
  2. Go to Format> align and indent> indentation optionsS
  3. Select First line or Pending and set the size.
  4. Click ApplyS

Use the ruler: Review> Show a rulerThen slide the markers just like in Word.

Literature

Tip: Keep the time by editing the style of the default paragraph (normal text), so each new paragraph follows the same retreat settings.
