Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has undergone surgery after breaking his ankle during Saturday’s 4-0 win over Manchester City, the club said.
Vicario played the full 90 minutes at the Etihad, but the club said he picked up an injury during the match.
The 28-year-old underwent treatment at the end of the first half and limped off again after the break, although he made three saves in the second half.
In a statement published on X on Monday night, Spurs wrote: “We can confirm that Guglielmo Vicario has undergone surgery today for a fractured right ankle.
“Guglielmo will be evaluated by our medical staff to determine when he can return to training. We’re all behind you, Vic.”
Vicario has yet to miss a minute of Premier League football since joining from Empoli last summer, playing in all 38 games last season and each of the 12 league matches so far in 2024/25.
Fraser Forster, who made 14 Premier League appearances for the club in 2022/23, is likely to replace Vicario, having been on the bench in 11 of the 12 matches so far this season.
