Experts warn of threat to global health as Trump freezes USAID

In particular, the administration is aimed at USAID, saying that the agency’s expenses are completely inexplicable and nominated some projects as examples of how the agency spends taxpayers’ money.

On the other hand, health experts warn the spread of the disease, as well as delaying the development of vaccines and new treatments as a result of reduction.

As well as directly launching numerous healthcare programs, USAID finances other organizations for work on its behalf, and freezing in financing has caused confusion among these groups.

Freezing financing has been issued for some humanitarian programs, but the announcement has already caused a wide breakdown of services.

D -R -Tom Wingfield, Tuberculosis Expert (tuberculosis) and social medicine in the UK Liverpool Tropical Medicine, said the BBC that it is difficult to transfer the impact on USAID dismantling.

“People do not evaluate the degree and reach USAID. This goes to insufficient amounts, hygiene, toilets, access to clean water, which all have a massive effect on tuberculosis and diarrhea.

“Diseases do not respect boundaries – this is even more when we have climate change and mass movement. Infectious diseases will spread.”

D -R -Wingfield says tuberculosis kills 1.3 million a year, and another 10 million people became ill.

But four out of 10 people never receive any help and therefore can pass the disease, he said.

“Let it be a scientific project or a clinic, we run the risk of further transfer.

“People will die directly from the reducing US funding.”

It is not only polyclinics that risk, but also those who help people who live with HIV.

Most of this work is carried out by non -governmental organizations of NGOs that provide vital antiretroviral drugs that can suppress the amount of HIV to non -timeline, which helps prevent sexual transmission to other people.

D -R Vingfield says that if the treatment is impaired, serious problems may occur.

“People with controlled HIV, when they miss the medicine, the blood virus increases, and there is a risk of transmission.

“There is a risk of canceling all progress today.”
