Thursday’s SpaceX launch off the Texas coast saw a Starship capsule explode … sending the rocket into what looked like a tropical shower.
Elon shared a video of bits and pieces of the rocket falling back to earth… seen by residents of Turks and Caicos as they looked up to the sky.
The explosion occurred about 9 minutes after launch, after it had separated from the Super Heavy Booster.
Elon has a pretty rosy outlook, posting … “Success is uncertain, but fun is guaranteed.” Starship will eventually have astronauts, but this time there were none.
SpaceX lost all communications with the rocket and said “the Starship rapidly unplanned during liftoff.” Nerd talk for a rocket that explodes into a million pieces.

The launch wasn’t bad at all…the Super Heavy booster essentially flew in the opposite direction to Earth…returning to the launch pad where it was caught by the launch and grip tower stick arms.
Elon says SpaceX will learn from the explosion and make adjustments for the next launch… and he says an oxygen/fuel leak seems to be the culprit here.
Starship’s goal is to one day take humans to Mars … but we’re not there yet!!!
