Economists Support Zohran Mamdani’s Plan for New York City

We write as economists from all over the world to support Merian Platform Zohran Mamdanni As a bold but practical plan to solve some of the most pressing New York problems – to overcome everyone, the cost of life. Its platform offers purposeful, responsible interventions, which will immediately improve millions of lives by building a fair and flowering New York.

The Mammani platform is based on its rental freeing plan, offering an urgent relief of more than 2 million tenants in rental apartments facing inflation and movement. As economists, we acknowledge that uncontrolled rental spikes destabilize quarters, increase homelessness – much more expensive public load – and drain local economies. Fixing rent, along with long-term construction commitments at least 200,000 additional rent and state units is a common sense policy that combines with immediate relief with a structural solution.

Mamman’s free bus priorities are based on success, already demonstrated by a pilot bus program without a five-line fare in each New York district. It has been shown that the elimination of tariffs increases the bus version by more than 30 percent, significantly reduces violence against bus drivers and provides true economic relief for low-income New York. The pilot data confirms that the automotive model without travel works and Mamman’s proposal to expand IT across the city, has a clear financial meaning.

The commitment of its platform for universal child care is not necessary for gender justice and economic need.
