Dr. Congo President, Felix Tshasecki, decided to appear at the summit through the video. Judith Suminva Prime Minister was there personally.
There was no immediate response from the Suminva or the Congolese delegation to the joint communiqué.
Kenya’s President William Ruto, the current EAC chairman, only emphasized that the military decisions could not resolve the crisis.
“We have to confront the temptation to think that we can somehow shoot or bomb our way in a decision,” he said.
President of Tanzania Suluha Hasan himself emphasized the “collective responsibility” of regional leaders to end the conflict, saying: “History will severely judge us when we stay in place and see how the situation will deteriorate day by day.”
The constant conflict goes back to the 1990s, but in recent weeks has grown.
