Multiple casualties are feared in New Orleans after a car reportedly plowed into a crowd on popular Bourbon Street, the BBC’s US news partner CBS reported.
A New Orleans police spokesman said, “Initial reports indicate that a vehicle may have crashed into a group of people. No injuries are known, but there are reports of fatalities.”
A CBS reporter saw several injured people on the ground.
Witnesses said the car drove into the crowd and then the driver started firing a weapon, prompting police to return fire. The police did not confirm the information.
