Car drives into crowd at Christmas market in Germany: Police

A car plowed into people at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany on Friday, injuring several victims and sending many fleeing in terror, according to police.

Extensive police operations are underway at Magdeburg’s Christmas market, which is now closed, police said.

Magdeburg is about two hours west of Berlin.

This incident happened almost eight years after an attack on another Christmas market in Germany. On December 19, 2016, a man he drove a truck into the crowd In a market in Berlin, 13 were killed and dozens injured.

The potential for vehicle attacks is a constant concern for U.S. law enforcement officials, especially before New Year’s Eve.
