Bo Greaves moved a step closer to a third straight WDF Women’s World Championship title after defeating Deta Hedman to book her place in Sunday’s final.
The women’s world No. 1 dispatched Kirsi Viinikainen and Jikta Sisarova in straight sets to reach the last four at Lakeside, where she took just three legs to cruise to a 3-0 win over the fourth seed.
Greaves fired two 180s and a brilliant 148 en route to taking the first set 3-1, with three more maximums helping him claim the next set by the same margin and seize control of the contest.
Hedman recovered from being broken early in the third set to immediately break himself, only for Greaves to break again and then seal a convincing victory at 120.
“I feel absolutely brilliant,” Greaves said after his win. “There’s nothing negative about it. Obviously I won and I played a little bit better than the last two games, so I’ll be positive going into the final.”
The 20-year-old will face Sophie McKinlay in the next semi-final after the Scottish teenager beat Lerena Rietbergen 3-1 in the other semi-final.
McKinlay is also through to the final of the Girls’ World Championship against England’s Paige Poling earlier on Sunday after impressively beating 2023 Girls’ winner Aurora Focesato in straight sets.
In the men’s competition, 70-year-old Paul Lim continued to roll back the years and defeated American Jason Brandon 5-0 to reach the final.
Lim, who won the nine-dart world championship for the first time in 1990, won 14 straight legs before finishing in straight sets to take on Ireland’s Shane McGuirk in the final.
